Last week I had a dear friend lose her baby girl to a congential heart defect. I have been so touched by Leah’s blog. Her testimony, her strength and her positive attitude. As I learned from Leah there are so many babies born with these heart defects. One baby Gracie, just passed away two weeks ago. Another, Grant, will be born this week. Another dear friend Amy sadly lost her little boy to a sick heart. Some of you might have seen earlier this year I had a “help Baby Mia” button on my blog, this baby girl was able to receive a new heart and is doing quite well. As you read through these blogs admire the strength of these families and realize the blessings you have been given. I know I have given extra hugs and kisses to my loved ones this week. You may ask why I this has touched me so much, my own brother Oliver passed away at birth due to a heart defect. It was in the early 80’s and my mom was told there was no hope. Now there is some hope for these babies, I just wanted to bring awareness to these heart defects.
The music for this blog is from a LDS musician Paul Cardall. Paul also was born with a congential heart defect. He is 35 and currently awaiting a new heart. His music is so beautiful. He has 9 cds that you can purchase through LDS bookstores. Read here about a benefit concert for Paul Cardall.
I am also currently raising money for the organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. Later I will have a post where you can go and help donate money to this wonderful organization that helps grieving families.
